Nu Echo Releases Rivr, a VoiceXML Dialogue Engine

Nu Echo, a contact center and speech recognition solutions provider, has released Rivr, a lightweight open-source dialogue engine that enables Java developers to create enterprise-grade VoiceXML applications.

Rivr not only allows developers to leverage their existing development workflow, including code coverage, unit tests, continuous build server, and war deployment, but they can also leverage any JVM language, including Java, Scala, Groovy, JPython, JRuby, or Clojure.

"Rivr has been built over 10 years of hands-on experience with large corporate organizations. Rivr is not an experiment; it's a proven software with several active deployments, including some at large financial institutions and utilities," said Dominique Boucher, Nu Echo's chief technology officer, in a statement.

Since the introduction of Rivr in August 2013, the Nu Echo team put a lot of effort to polish the API, fix stability issues, support more VoiceXML platforms, and provide developers with comprehensive documentation. In particular, a complete cookbook, with examples covering most application development use cases, is now available and will continue to grow.

Rivr supports all VoiceXML primitives, including touchtone, speech recognition, text-to-speech, recordings, subdialogues, objects, scripts, and transfers, and is compatible with standards-compliant platforms, including Genesys, Cisco, Avaya, and Voxeo.
