Nuance's Dragon TV Brings Voice to DIRECTV

Nuance Communications has announced that the new DIRECTV Voice Search feature for the DIRECTV App, which is currently in beta and available from Google Play and the App Store, is powered by Nuance's Dragon TV voice technology.

DIRECTV now enables consumers to search for program information and content by voice with their Android or iOS phones whether they are at home or on the go. Dragon TV can be integrated directly into a television or set-top box or can be implemented as a second screen application on a tablet or smartphone.

"The amount of media content that subscription TV service providers like DIRECTV offer is incredible the options are endless, and as such, can often be hard to discover," said Michael Thompson, executive vice president and general manager of Nuance Mobile, in a statement. "Dragon TV lets people cut through the guides and menus to get direct access to the shows and movies they want to watch."

The new DIRECTV Voice Search feature for the DIRECTV App is currently available as part of a nationwide beta and is compatible with both iPhone/iPod touch and Android devices. For customers to enjoy the full benefit of the Voice Search, they will need to download the DIRECTV Mobile App from the App Store or Google Play to their smartphone and have a broadband connected HD DVR in their home.
