Nuance Dragon Drive Powers Toyota App in Japan

Nuance today announced that Nuance Dragon Drive is powering the voice capabilities behind Toyota's new smart G-BOOK smartphone application, part of Toyota's G-BOOK Telematics service, in Japan.

Toyota has integrated Dragon Drive's Japanese voice recognition capabilities directly into the smart G-BOOK application called Agent, enabling users to search for a destination and news by using natural voice input.

For instance, people can say, "Find the nearest gas station," "Looking for Italian restaurants open today," "Find sports news," or similar commands. Dragon Drive features the same core Dragon voice recognition technology available as part of the successful Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search smartphone application in Japan.

"Smartphone access to navigation, local business information, and news is a standard for today's mobile consumers," said Nobuaki Matsueda, general manager of the telematics solution department for Toyota's e-TOYOTA Division, in a statement. "By integrating Nuance's voice capabilities as part of our new smart G-BOOK app in Japan, we're helping to ensure that our consumers have a smarter access to the information they need."

Toyota's new smart G-BOOK smartphone app is now available in Japan for Android smartphones, and in the middle of June for Apple iOS.
