MTC Namibia Selects NMS Communications' RAN Backhaul Optimization Solution

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — MTC Namibia, a GSM operator in Namibia, will deploy NMS's AccessGate RAN backhaul optimization solution to support the growth of its mobile subscriber base to 50 new population centers throughout the country. AccessGate will be deployed in conjunction with VSAT modems and hubs developed by satellite-based broadband access solutions provider iDirect. Advanced Telecoms, a regional integrator of solutions for mobile applications and infrastructure, is providing design, installation, and support services for the MTC deployment, along with support from SatCom, a Namibian satellite implementation company.

AccessGate optimizes the transport of GSM and UMTS voice and data traffic over TDM- and IP-based wireless networks, allowing mobile operators to grow and roll out new subscriber services. AccessGate is equipped with patented deep packet inspection RAN optimization technology as well as vendor-independent, multiservice and multiprotocol aggregation capabilities.

AccessGate has been certified to interoperate with all major brands of network base station subsystem equipment and integrates with existing terrestrial leased line, satellite, and microwave-based RAN infrastructures.
