Elix Integrates VoiceXML into Its Interactive Voice Response Platform
MONTREAL, QUEBEC - Elix, a develoer of self-service and agent-assisted solutions, announces that Elix IVS for Windows 2000, its interactive voice response platform, now supports VXML 2.0 (Voice Extensible Markup Language). This emerging telephony standard provides an alternative to proprietary software systems and allows enterprises to open their Web applications to telephone users. The addition of this new technology to a development platform, designed to build, run and manage an interactive voice service infrastructure, makes the development of voice applications a task that does not require knowledge of proprietary systems. "Standards-based technologies such as VXML will reform self-service offerings. Businesses can now make available new types of self-service applications at lower costs. With VXML, customers can now access the same services by phone as they can on the Web," said François Rainville, President and CEO of Elix. "VXML provides customers with more options, channels, or touchpoints to interact with organizations. Therefore, agents can increase their efficiency by focusing on interactions that need their specific skills. Companies leveraging this new technology paradigm will develop a powerful competitive advantage." Typical applications built with Elix's IVS VXML range from information services (horoscope, weather, etc.) to unified messaging (voice-mail, auto-attendant, etc.), banking, reservation services and change of address requests.
