US FAA Selects STR for TTS

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA - STR was awarded a contract with the US FAA to provide a system that will automatically generate TWEB (Transcribed Weather Broadcast Service) forecasts, using STR's StarCaster® Text-to-Speech (TTS) technology for message broadcasting. The TWEB system provides pilots with a continuous broadcast of weather information.

According to STR, the organization has also been awarded a contract with DND Canada to provide a VOLMET Automated Weather Broadcast System at CFB Trenton, using STR's StarCaster TTS technology. At the deployment of the CFB Trenton VOLMET system, STR will provide all automated VOLMET systems in North America.
