IBM Announces ViaVoice for Enterprises
SOMERS, NY - IBM announced ViaVoice Pro Enterprise Edition for Windows: an all-in-one voice recognition solution aimed at value-added resellers. Based on IBM's ViaVoice technology, ViaVoice Pro Enterprise enables VARs to build customized, turnkey voice dictation offerings based on the needs of their corporate, enterprise and professional customers. Resellers can develop voice-controlled "shortcuts" for end users to access and navigate PC applications, including Microsoft Office XP and the Internet. Resellers can also customize business names, greetings, addresses, terms and expressions, tailored to each client's expectations. Such dictation macro "shortcuts" speed up routine tasks such as writing business letters and e-mails, compiling reports and completing forms. Pro Enterprise Edition also comes with specialized vocabularies, which further target the specific dictation needs of today's professionals. Medical and legal vocabularies included with Pro Enterprise Edition each contain over 25,000 general practice and litigation terms for greater dictation accuracy for professionals working in these fields of expertise. The Enterprise Edition includes TTS capabilities to listen to dictated or typed text and serve as an audible editing tool. In addition, ViaVoice Pro Enterprise includes a noise-canceling headset microphone with USB adapter for doing dictation in a multi-user environment. The SRP for ViaVoice Pro Enterprise for Windows is $695.00 and is available immediately in North America. In addition, IBM's Embedded ViaVoice Mobility Suite ($29.95), which ships with Compaq's iPAQ H3800, is now available for Compact's iPAQ H3600 and H3700 PocketPCs. The Mobility Suite gives users voice access to Personal Information Management applications (such as e-mail tasks, calendar, phone numbers and addresses) and enables system navigation using simple, natural voice commands such as "go to contacts" and "read John Smith's home phone number."
