Kirusa and Internet Systems Sign System Integrator and VAR Agreement

MADRID, SPAIN and BERKELY HEIGHTS, NJ - Kirusa, a developer and licensor of multimodal wireless platforms, has teamed up with Internet Systems, an integrator in the Spanish and Portuguese markets, to deliver Kirusa's multimodal platform to mobile operators and enterprises in Spain and Portugal. Through a Value Added Reseller (VAR) agreement, Internet Systems will use Kirusa's solutions as the foundation for multimodal mobility solutions addressing consumer and enterprise application requirements. Kirusa's multimodal platform, offering SMS, sequential and simultaneous multimodality, enables wireless phone and PDA users to access information by speaking a command, or by using visual signals such as typing or gesturing to their handset. Application results can be delivered visually on the device screen, by voice, or through innovative combinations of both voice and visual modes. SMS multimodality addresses the huge embedded market of SMS-capable handsets to deliver engaging, credible multimodal experiences, while sequential multimodality allows users to seamlessly alternate between voice and visual (WAP) interactions on mass market, off-the-shelf mobile handsets. Simultaneous multimodality, allows users to use both voice and visual interactions at the same time on advanced, PDA-like, handsets. Internet Systems S.A offers solutions for implementation of mobility services to companies in Spain and Portugal. They have numerous solutions for multichannel voice recognition and voice portals, and now, through the relationship with Kirusa, are introducing advanced multimodal technologies and applications for these customers. The Kirusa solution has been installed at Internet Systems in Madrid, and Internet Systems engineers have been trained in deployment, installation, support, and multimodal applications creation. The VAR agreement provides for Internet Systems to resell the Kirusa solution, to offer systems integration services, and to provide support services after the system is in production. "Internet Systems brings a tremendous wealth of experience implementing internet and speech-solutions for mobile operators and large enterprises," said Michael Sajor, vice president of business development at Kirusa. "Leveraging our relationship as well as their partnerships with leading suppliers such as Sun, Telisma, and Wokup!, we believe Internet Systems will be a tremendous asset in driving the Kirusa vision of revenue-generating multimodal applications and services across the service provider and enterprise markets now exploding across Spain and Portugal." "The Kirusa multimodal solution opens the door for mobile operators and enterprises to dramatically enhance the usability and desirability of their applications portfolio," said Alfredo Pérez Sainz de la Maza, Director General of Internet Systems. "Spain and Portugal are well known for early adoption of advanced technology, and we see strong demand for multimodal applications solutions in both countries. Kirusa is the leading multimodal solutions provider, clearly best positioned for capturing the Spanish and Portuguese markets. After working with Kirusa for several months, we find their solution robust and easy to work with, and we fully expect this relationship to create significant revenue and opportunity for both Internet Systems and Kirusa."
