Envox Worldwide Introduces Envox 6 VoiceXML Studio

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. - Envox Worldwide introduced Envox 6 VoiceXML Studio, a graphical development environment that enhances the company's Envox 6 Communications Development Platform and accelerates the creation of VoiceXML-based voice solutions. Together these Envox products provide developers with a VoiceXML offering that includes development and management capabilities.

Envox 6 VoiceXML Studio includes the following features:

  • A graphical programming environment that enables developers to quickly assemble applications from pre-built "functional blocks" for voice user interface management, call control, application logic and database integration.
  • A library of pre-built user interface components, or "dialog blocks," which promote "best-practices" in user interface design.  Included are dialog blocks for collecting credit card numbers, addresses, account numbers, and much more.
  • The flexibility to create a range of voice solutions, including interactive voice response (IVR), enhanced self-service, automated directory assistance, alerts and notifications, and carrier solutions.
  • VoiceXML 2.0 compatibility - Developers using Envox 6 VoiceXML Studio benefit from the interoperability of VoiceXML, which assists with the integration of voice solutions with automatic speech recognition (ASR) and text-to-speech (TTS) engines, data stores, and enterprise applications.
  • Broad platform support - Solutions created with Envox 6 VoiceXML Studio can be deployed on VoiceXML 2.0-compliant gateways and J2EE-compliant application servers, such as IBM WebSphere and BEA WebLogic.

Envox 6 VoiceXML Studio is integrated with the Envox 6 Communications Development Platform.  Developers using Envox 6 VoiceXML Studio in combination with the Envox 6 platform gain the following capabilities:

  • Additional development functions not included in the VoiceXML 2.0 specification, including integration with email, Web and fax systems; access to call control functions such as conferencing, fax, PBX integration, ISDN signaling, ANI and DNIS-based actions, and intelligent routing; and integration options for databases, Web services, enterprise applications and legacy systems.
  • A bridge between legacy systems and new VoiceXML-based solutions, allowing companies to leverage prior investments in hardware, software, and solution development.
  • Support for speech and telephony resources from ScanSoft, Nuance, Intel and others.
  • A fault tolerant VoiceXML gateway.
  • The ability to deploy solutions in a range of telephony environments including analog, digital, VoIP, SS7 and more.
