BEA Systems and SandCherry Announce Speech-enabled Service-deployment Solution

ATLANTA, GA - SandCherry Inc., a provider of multi-service broker software for applications and media resources, announced a joint solution with BEA Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: BEAS), the application infrastructure software company, designed to speed, simplify and extend service deployments in the telecommunications industry. SandCherry and BEA are introducing this joint solution, based on the new BEA WebLogic Service Delivery, this week at SUPERCOMM 2003. SandCherry's flagship product, the SoftServer platform, extends applications to phone (voice and touch-tone) and multimodal (data+voice) users. The SoftServer platform is a solution that combines Web and telecom software with advanced call/session control and resource management capabilities to simplify application integration, control, and management of media components. Using the SoftServer platform, applications on a variety of platforms - application servers, call center, messaging, voice mail, AIN, and other platforms - can use voice and media components to extend the reach of existing services and deliver compelling new services. "Fierce competition among telecommunications companies has made enhanced customer experiences and differentiated services critical to customer retention, acquisition and overall growth," said Chris King, director of telecommunications markets, BEA Systems. "Together with SandCherry, BEA can provide a cost-effective framework for service providers to accelerate the deployment of new services and achieve higher revenue per customer." BEA WebLogic Service Delivery, based on BEA WebLogic Enterprise Platform, presents a single, standardized, and scalable platform for rapidly developing, integrating, and deploying new digital, data services tied closely to carrier operations support systems (OSS) such as billing, provisioning, and customer care. BEA WebLogic Service Delivery pre-integrates third-party components, such as SandCherry's SoftServer platform, within a scalable and telecommunications-proven framework, accelerating the delivery of a wide array of personalized, digital and wireless services and minimizing associated costs for telecommunications companies. "This solution further underscores SandCherry's commitment to enabling advanced voice services by extending the wealth of applications already delivered by application servers," said Charles Corfield, CEO of SandCherry. "With this solution, telecom operators can economically extend customer service, workforce management, interactive messaging, information services, and enhanced network service applications to every phone, wired or wireless, without investing in costly and cumbersome standalone systems just for speech solutions."
