WhatsApp to Offer Voice Notes Feature

Meta-owned messaging platform provider WhatsApp is said to be releasing a capability that will let users set voice messages of up to 30 seconds as status updates. Users can now share images and videos as status updates with a 24-hour duration cap.

WhatsApp will also allow users to choose which people will be able to access their voice message status updates. Users will see a microphone icon in the text box when selecting status update. The voice messages will also be end-to-end encrypted.

The new capability is currently in beta testing, and Meta has not set an official release date.
