Warner Music, Parlophone Records and Eleven Mgmt. Partner With imperson to Launch a Multi-Platform Chatbot
imperson, developer of Enterprise Chatbots for Sales and Marketing, partnered with Gorillaz--"the World's Most Successful Virtual Act"--along with Parlophone Records to produce and deploy a multi-platform conversational chatbot using its proprietary conversational AI technology. The "Free Murdoc" chatbot is available on Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Facebook Messenger, Kik, and Skype.
Gorillaz lynchpin is currently incarcerated at HM Prison Wormwood Scrubs, London. Now, with the help of a multi-platform chatbot, concerned Gorillaz fans around the world can converse with Murdoc – via voice or text – to hear from the man himself on what exactly they can do to help him break out of prison and restore his rightful place in the band, alongside 2D, Noodle and Russel. All part of Niccals' ongoing plot to gather information behind his false imprisonment for smuggling. Users who help Murdoc receive an exclusive, customized video which they are encouraged to share across social media.
The Free Murdoc chatbot pushes the boundaries of transmedia conversational storytelling by letting fans participate in a real-time storyline as it evolves. The bot will be available over multiple months with new episodes and exclusive content to promote the release of The Now Now – the brand new studio album from Gorillaz – out now. Will Murdoc ever find out who framed him? Will he rejoin the band? It's up to the fans.
The chatbot launched June 4. The total number of messages exchanged between fans and Murdoc at the time of publication is more than 10 million. On average, fans are spending more than seven minutes chatting on text and more than four minutes chatting on voice platforms. Ninety-eight percent of users are fully engaged in the immersive storyline and expressed positive sentiment.
