SoundHound Provides Voice Control for Rand McNally’s OverDryve
SoundHound, a provider of sound and voice recognition and artificial intelligence technologies, has licensed its Houndify voice-enabling conversational intelligence developer platform to Rand McNally for its connected car device, OverDryve. Houndify software will allow users to input destinations into OverDryve's navigation application with their voices.
OverDryve is a dashboard tablet that provides access to audible news, weather, traffic, and sports, streaming music, navigation, hands-free calling and texting, and more.
"Houndify seeks to provide a safe and easy hands-free experience while driving," said Amir Arbabi, vice president of business development at SoundHound, in a statement. "Including the software in a manner that enables drivers to safely input destinations into their OverDryve devices is a key use case for our voice technology."
"We are focused on developing products that help drivers maximize their capabilities and minimize distractions," said Yusuf Ozturk, chief technology officer at Rand McNally, in a statement. "With Houndify, we are able to support voice input within our on-board navigation application."
Houndify was launched in December to enable developers to add smart, voice-enabled, conversational intelligence to any app or product. SoundHound's mobile apps, Hound and SoundHound, offer voice-control features powered by the Houndify platform. More than 16,000 developers have signed up to use Houndify in their products, including NVIDIA (in a car dashboard), Samsung (in its smart home products), and more.
Houndify provides automatic speech recognition, natural language understanding, Speech-to-Meaning technology, and software development kits (SDKs) across all major operating systems and platforms (including iOS, Android, Windows, Unix, and Raspberry Pi).
