SoftServe Connects Atlassian HipChat with Amazon Echo
Digital software development and consulting provider SoftServe has developed the Alexa skill, VoiceMyBot, a chatbot that allows Amazon Alexa users to talk to their Atlassian HipChat bots.
The VoiceMyBot skill allows users to configure the type of information/updates they receive, from any extension, without additional integration. And as its open source, custom integrations can also be added.
"A chatbot with a voice interface is a reliable virtual team mate that can help users build and deploy source code or provide voice notifications. And for important alerts, they don't even need to trigger Alexa," said Michael Verlanov, SoftServe product manager and one of the project's creators, in a statement. "Once Alexa is set up as an external Bluetooth speaker and notification settings for important alerts are configured via VoiceMyBot and system settings, it will initiate a conversation when there's an important notification that needs attention."
Key VoiceMyBot skill benefits include the following:
- Hands-free voice control;
- Access to all of Atlassian HipChat Marketplace listings from a single place by using voice commands;
- Opportunity to add custom integrations; and
- Custom configuration of information/updates received.
"Developers, not institutions, will drive the next breakthroughs in workplace collaboration. That's why we invested early in HipChat Connect, our flexible and powerful API framework," said Steve Goldsmith, general manager of HipChat, in a statement. "Voice is the most natural way for humans to collaborate. SoftServe has done a masterful job taking the canvas HipChat Connect provides to bring voice commands and automation into HipChat. Now for the first time, knowledge workers can trigger actions in their cloud tools via a simple voice command to Alexa, making it easier to automate and simplify workflows for every team."
