Web Pages Read Aloud Using ReadBar for Internet Explorer
The ReadPlease announced the release of their new text-to-speech software -- ReadingBar for Internet Explorer. Internet users can now have any Web page read to them in a natural sounding voice. ReadingBar is the latest member of the ReadPlease software family, and has been created as a result of a licensing agreement with AT&T.
"This is a real advancement in speech technology and built for the Internet. Our software invention gives Internet users a whole new experience," says Rob McCormack, president of ReadPlease.
ReadingBar (a toolbar for Internet Explorer) allows users to have web pages read aloud, create MP3 sound files, magnify web pages, make text-only versions of any Web page, dictionary look-up, and even translate web pages to and from other languages.
ReadingBar is not limited to reading and recording web pages - it is capable of reading and recording text you see on your screen from any application. ReadingBar can be used to proofread documents and even to learn other languages.
When ordered with the AT&T Natural Voices speech engine, ReadingBar boasts realistic, human-sounding synthetic speech. Supported languages include US English, UK English, Spanish, German, and French. Translation of ReadingBar's documentation and interface will be completed in July.
"The response to ReadingBar has been extremely positive - users really enjoy this new experience on the Net," says Linda Petteplace, director of international sales.
ReadingBar for Internet Explorer starts at $69.95 U.S. and $30.00 U.S. extra when ordered with AT&T Natural Voices on CD ROM. You can download ReadingBar for free (30 day evaluation) at the ReadPlease Web site.
