Vuzix Updates Its SDK
Vuzix, a supplier of smart glasses and augmented and virtual reality technologies, has released a major OS upgrade for its M300 Smart Glasses and a new software development kit (SDK) for registered Vuzix developers.
The OS 1.2 software update delivers new features and improves and optimizes several feature sets and applications for the M300 Smart Glasses. It now includes Sensory's TrulyHandsfree voice control, allowing users to navigate the M300 hands-free via voice command.
Other speech-related enhancements include dual audio paths, which allow for concurrent use of the voice recognition engine while simultaneously streaming or recording audio, and dual microphone noise cancellation capabilities, which optimize the performance of voice recognition and audio recording in noisy environments.
Other feature enhancements include the following:
- Barcode scanning application from Manatee Works;
- Optimized power management and sleep mode functionality;
- Enhanced camera subsystems;
- Streamlined procedures for wireless screen casting via Miracast; and
- Improved Wi-Fi network connectivity and authentication via a standard Android keyboard or the new QR code and barcode scanner.
In addition to the OS 1.2 firmware update, Vuzix just released the M300 SDK version 1.0, replacing the prior Alpha SDK. This new SDK, combined with the standard Android SDK, gives developers access to barcode scanning, camera, sensors, Bluetooth, file database, Google cloud messaging, maps, and tools to build features into developer applications.
