Voice Signal Technologies Joins Symbian Platinum Partner Program
Voice Signal Technologies, a provider of speech interface software for mobile devices,has joined the Symbian Platinum Partner Program to support the market for Symbian OS advanced mobile phones. As a member of the Platinum Program, Voice Signal Technologies is extending its speech solutions to the Symbian ecosystem.
Symbian is the creator of Symbian OS, the operating system for advanced mobile phones. "This partnership reflects our commitment to the emerging speech market and our intent to build upon our mobile strategy," said Dan Roth, Voice Signal's CEO. "By becoming a Symbian Platinum Partner, we can further expand our state-of-the-art speech solutions and strengthen our relationships with wireless users, application developers, device manufacturers and carriers. To support Symbian OS, Voice Signal will leverage its speech recognition solutions. With the Voice Signal application, users can now look up or dial any name in the mobile device phonebook regardless of the number of names, without first having to "train" the device. The Voice Signal speaker independent software also allows users to dial numbers and navigate the phone's menus.
By combining speech recognition and synthesized text-to-speech output, the Voice Signal application enables users to control all these features without having to use their hands or look at the display. "Voice recognition has become a fundamental requirement for today's mobile devices," said Jerry Panagrossi, Vice President of Ecosystem Development, Symbian. "We are pleased to have Voice Signal Technologies join the Symbian Platinum Program and bring their best-in-class voice recognition technology to the Symbian ecosystem with flexible configurations that address handset manufacturers' requirements."
The Symbian Platinum Program includes companies that have a technology or strategic position that is key to the success of mobile computing technology surrounding Symbian OS. As part of the program, Platinum Partners benefit from a range of commercial services, as well as privileged access to Symbian OS source code and a dedicated Partner Support team.
