Vocalocity Appoints Carter and Burnett to New Positions
ATLANTA, Ga. - Vocalocity hired Jerry Carter as senior technical consultant and Dan Burnett as lead product manager. Carter is one of the original developers of OpenVXI, an open source VoiceXML interpreter. Burnett's many standards contributions include his role as co-editor of Media Resource Control Protocol (MRCP) and chief editor of Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML). Both men were editors of VoiceXML 2.0.
Jerry Carter has been actively involved in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). He is a key contributor to the SSML and SRGS standards. Carter was previously a software architect at ScanSoft, where he produced the company's VoiceXML product OpenSpeech Browser and MRCP offering.
Dan Burnett provides 14 years experience in automatic speech recognition including algorithm research, tools, applications, dialog design approaches, and standards. In addition to being chief editor of the SSML standard, Burnett is co-editor of MRCP v2 and VoiceXML 2.0, and a key contributor to VoiceXML 2.1, SRGS, EMMA, and SISR. He was most recently senior standards engineer at Nuance Communications.
