UnifiedVoice Announces UDocs
GAITHERSBURG, MD - UnifiedVoice has developed UDocs, a new technology for automatically fitting dictation by a doctor, lawyer or executive into a document format selected by the person during dictation. This provides ways for a user to create documents using their voice with speech-recognition software, or they can simply type entries using our new word cueing technology. The system uses a "cue" word to select the document format or to insert into the document a phrase that is used frequently. It can even retrieve data from or write to many databases. A short "cue" word can become a paragraph or a page of text or data. This UDocs technology can be implemented with or without automatic speech recognition technology. However, for professionals who rely on dictation to get more work done faster, UnifiedVoice can deliver a complete digital speech recognition system that incorporates the processing of corrected transcribed text into auto-formatted documents. With UDocs technology and the use of word cueing, an author can create multiple documents or files, and eventually retrieve information and update databases as required completing a document or transaction. F. James Harter, President and CEO of UnifiedVoice says "Our UDocs technology is going to make the use of voice to create transactions and every day experience for a whole new cadre of users. Using your voice to create transcribed text has always been faster than typing. Our UDocs application adds the necessary document organizing, focus and processing capabilities so that everyone can learn to dictate faster and easier. They don't have to deal with the complexity of word processing software or speech recognition software, or train support staff on their preferences for document formats. UDocs is the final piece of software needed to make speech recognition software realistic for use by everyone. It uses the author's own wordsnot a programmer's terminologyas input to a document, file or transaction. That makes UDocs very friendly for the user." UDocs can be implemented as part of a complete dictation workflow speech recognition system or on a single desktop. Mr. Harter says he searched the U.S. and International markets for technology for dictation automation. UnifiedVoice can now deliver IBM's WebSphere voice transcription server and DictaNet A.G. NetDictate workflow and client softwarea combination rapidly cost-justified where there are five or more users. This networked technology will also allow remote dictation transmission across the Internet for processing. The system "scales" so that offices with a large potential user base can implement the system without customizing the speech recognition software. UDocs, now available as Alpha software, maintains each dictation application user by user, and is the long-awaited final element for complete automation of digital dictation.
