U.S. Attorneys Office Standardizes on Nuance Dictation Software

As part of a productivity initiative, the U.S. Attorneys Office will roll out Nuance Communications’ Dragon NaturallySpeaking Professional dictation solution to its 15,000 employees across multiple locations throughout the country.

The U.S. Attorneys Office is using the legal edition of Dragon NaturallySpeaking speech recognition application, with access to a supporting database of legal vocabulary. The software will be installed on each employee’s PC and will allow staffers to create reports, emails, spreadsheets, and other documents by converting spoken words into text at up to 160 words per minute, with accuracy rates of up to 99 percent.

It will also roll out Nuance OmniPage Professional, PaperPort Professional, and PDF Converter Professional, allowing it to scan and convert paper into documents that can be stored, searched, and shared electronically, and to replace paper with secure electronic PDF workflows. The deal with Nuance also includes the Redax & Stamp add-on to PDF Converter Professional, which is created by Nuance development and reseller partner Appligent.

All of these applications are parts of the Nuance Productivity Applications package. They are being made available to the U.S. Attorneys Office through the Nuance Site License Program, an offering that enables affordable enterprise deployments and low-cost administration of Nuance desktop solutions. The U.S. Attorneys Office joins the Logitech & Defense Contract Audit Agency, U.S. Social Security Administration, and Texas Children’s Hospital, who have also benefited from Nuance’s volume license programs.

Combined, the Nuance Productivity Applications are expected to lead to reduced costs and increased productivity for the U.S. Attorneys Office by automating many of the manual processes that have traditionally bound the organization.
