Texas Children’s Hospital Signs With Language Access Network
Houston-based Texas Children’s Hospital, an affiliate of Baylor College of Medicine, signed a service agreement for MARTTI (My Accessible Real Time Trusted Interpreter), the live video/audio interpretation service from the Language Access Network.
Language Access Network will now provide Texas Children’s Hospital with live video/audio interpretation services for 150 languages, including American Sign Language, to its more than 2.2 million patient encounters a year for free. Texas Children’s Hospital purchased the MARTTI equipment and will be billed for the video/audio interpretation services based on a per-minute usage fee.
LAN estimates that each patient encounter in a hospital lasts between seven and 12 minutes on the MARTTI unit, with a cost range of $1.75 to $2.95 per minute.
