Tellme Expanding its Network Via Internet Applications; Introduces New Board Member
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA - Tellme is expanding its relationships with carriers by building applications that use the Internet to improve person-to-person calling and how people get information. These new phone applications range from voice-activated dialing, enabling callers to simply say, "Call Mom," to directory assistance. Tellme and VoltDelta signed an agreement to build an application, automated nationwide directory assistance. Expected to launch with carriers later this year, consumers will call 411 and get their listing by speaking to a voice-driven application running on Tellme's platform and using the data infrastructure of VoltDelta. The application will provide people with nationwide directory listings and improve the experience of calling 411. Over the past weeks Tellme launched Voice Activated Dialing (VAD) for AT&T Wireless' next generation network. The VAD application lets people speak into the phone to create their personal address book, place calls to anyone in their address book and use their voice to edit their contact list. At the last Board meeting, Tellme added a member to its team. Mohan Gyani, former president and CEO of AT&T Wireless Mobility Services, joined the Board of Directors for Tellme Networks. Prior to his tenure at AT&T Wireless, Mohan was CFO and EVP of AirTouch, one of the largest wireless carriers in the world at that time, where he led the $120 billion merger with Vodafone and the $70 billion joint venture with Bell Atlantic.
