SpinVox to Provide Skype with Voice-To-Screen Messaging
SpinVox announced today that it signed a contract with VoIP provider Skype to offer its voice-to-text service for Skype's internet-communication software. The service will be available in English, Spanish, French, and German at launch.
The SpinVox service will allow a Skype user to have his voice messages converted to text and sent directly to a mobile device as an SMS when he is not at his computer.
Skype users will have immediate access to all their messages, giving callers the confidence that messages can be seen quickly, whether Skype users are online or not. SpinVox reaches any cellphone, so Skype users will not need to download new software onto phones to use the voice-to-text messaging service.
"This is a powerful example of how SpinVox is enabling leading Web 2.0 services to extend their reach from PC to mobile," said Christina Domecq, chief executive officer and co-founder of SpinVox. "It's also proof of our ability to integrate our technology with any existing service platform, whether fixed-line, cable, or wireless, and now Internet calling with market leaders Skype.
