SpinVox Voice Message Conversion System Powers Truemors.Com
SpinVox’s voice-to-text conversion system is now supporting Truemors.com, the news and social networking site that allows people to post time-sensitive rumors, news and sightings. SpinVox enables Truemors' users to speak entries into any phone and then have them appear as text on the Truemors site.
"Posting content in real time is a key to the success of Truemors," said Guy Kawasaki, noted author, venture capitalist and founder of Truemors. "News happens anytime and anywhere, most often it's nowhere near a keyboard and Internet access. SpinVox extends our reach so users can 'speak' a sighting or a piece of breaking news into any phone, enhancing the immediate nature of the site and its value."
"The next phase of social networking includes adding elements of simplicity and mobility," said Christina Domecq, CEO and founder of SpinVox. "Enabling our voice-to-screen technology with Truemors is an example of that natural progression. SpinVox voice-to-screen can take any existing Web 2.0 offering and extend it beyond the computer screen, enabling active users to remain networked in the absence of a keyboard and Internet connection."
Launched in March 2007, Truemors is a rumor reporting Web site allowing people to post time sensitive news. To post a "truemor", they call 1-650-329-2020 and speak a message of up to 30 seconds in length. Messages can be spoken in English, French, Spanish, or German. Once the caller hangs up the phone, SpinVox automatically converts the speech to text and posts the Truemor on the site along with the last four digits of the caller's phone number.
