Sensory Releases FluentSpeech SDK

Sensory, a provider of embedded speech technology, announced the release of the Fluent Speech Software Development Kit (SDK).

The SDK allows developers to implement and integrate speech recognition into consumer electronics products including convergence devices like PDAs and smart phones, MP3 players and navigation systems. The SDK is based on the speaker-independent Fluent Speech engine, which is capable of recognizing several thousand words or phrases. Recognition vocabularies can be dynamically built directly from text, even on the device. This configurable phonemic recognition engine requires no user training and provides continuous digit recognition, wordspotting, grammar-based vocabularies, N-best results and noise robustness. The SDK is available for devices using StrongARM processors running Microsoft's Windows CE operating system or one of its variants such as Pocket PC or Auto PC, as well as for Windows PCs. The SDK also includes libraries for the Windows Pocket PC Emulator. Support for other platforms is on the way.

To complement Sensory's technology libraries, the SDK includes several demos with modifiable source code to streamline development. In addition to English, the SDK is also available in Japanese, with other languages to be announced soon. The Fluent Speech SDK is available directly from Sensory's web site, www.sensoryinc.com, for $1995.

Todd Mozer, Sensory's president and CEO points out, "Not only will companies that want to embed speech recognition as part of their product be able to do so quicker and at a dramatically lower cost, but the SDK also opens the door for application development houses to offer a differentiating capability directly to their current and potential customers." Sensory can provide custom solutions as well.
