OnMobile Sells Telisma to Voicebox

India-based streaming music provider OnMobile has sold the Telisma speech technology assets it acquired from France Telecom (Orange) in 2008 to Voicebox Technologies France for roughly $700,000.

Telisma, which is based in France, provides speech recognition technology under the TeliSpeech brand name. Its more than 100 customers include Telefonica, Orange, and Vodafone.

OnMobile executives said the sale aligns with the company’s plan to concentrate its energy and resources on strategic initiatives. OnMobile daily streams more than 500 million pieces of music to its customer base of more than 1.5 billion mobile users.
