Nuance Acquires Webmedx
Nuance Communications has acquired Webmedx, a provider of transcription and editing services and clinical documentation technology for hospitals and clinics nationally. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition will strengthes Nuance Transcription Services(NTS), the company's fully managed, medical transcription services offering. In addition to complementary transcription leadership and scale, Webmedx's natural language processing-driven Quality Analytics application enhances Nuance's clinical language understanding innovations, whereby actionable information improves business and clinical decisions.

Webmedx's customers include more than 100 leading hospitals, including Bon Secours and Catholic Healthcare West. Webmedx also brings to Nuance its Medical Technology Education Center (MTEC), the first Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI)-approved online speech recognition editing and medical transcription school.
The addition of Webmedx brings many advantages and synergies that are expected to complement Nuance's presence in the healthcare market, as well as accelerate the future development of clinical understanding solutions. Webmedx has made significant advancements in the conversion of unstructured, dictated/speech-recognized text into structured and actionable clinical information.
