Nickelodeon Network Chooses NeoSpeech

FREMONT, CA - NeoSpeech, a provider of speech technologies for hand-held, desktop and network/server applications, announced that The N, the nighttime network for teens owned by Nickelodeon, has chosen NeoSpeech's Text-to-Speech (TTS) product, VoiceText™, to provide "type and talk" functionality for its Web properties. The N, which reaches 35 million households via cable, digital cable and satellite television, will incorporate VoiceText into the Web site component to "Radio Free Roscoe," one of the network's original teen dramas. "This show is about high school students who are tired of the establishment, so they create an underground radio station where they maintain secret identities," said Kenny Miller, vice president, production and programming, for The N. "This concept will be carried over to The N's Web site by enabling fans to type in phrases and hear a synthesized voice read the words aloud - all while keeping their identity a disguise. NeoSpeech's VoiceText has a "gee whiz" factor that makes it both a powerful entertainment and viral marketing tool for The N." When The N launches the speech application later this quarter, fans of "Radio Free Roscoe" will be able to type in text and click a "listen now" button. This will generate an audio file of a synthesized voice that the person can listen to or save. "The N is truly an industry leader when it comes to providing teens with a stimulating, interactive community for learning and conversing with their peers," said Yoon Kim, CEO of NeoSpeech. "VoiceText is very flexible and, above all, extremely realistic and human sounding. It's the first product that I've seen that truly blurs the distinction between a computer and human voice." "NeoSpeech has excelled at building crisp, life-like, accurate TTS technology," said Nancy Jamison, principal analyst at Jamison Consulting. "Not only does their technology meet the highest standards for realism, it is able to run on a wide range of devices and platforms, including handhelds, the desktop and network servers, making it one of the more flexible speech technology solutions available today."
