New Hound Voice Search App Launches
SoundHound has launched Hound, a new, streamlined, stand-alone voice-search application that lets users find a song, artist, or band simply by saying it.
The application is now available for free to users on Apple's iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad through the App Store and Android phones through Amazon’s Appstore and Google’s Android Market.
Want to check out why your friends are raving about British folk indie band Mumford & Sons? Don’t type a search. Hound it. Just speak the name into the app and you’ll get instant results that show artist page, complete with previews of top songs, lyrics, videos, sharing features and more.
According to company executives, subsequent versions of Hound will include expanded voice-search categories for a variety of everyday tasks. "Our vision is to revolutionize the way people interact with their connected devices using sound and voice recognition," said SoundHound CEO Keyvan Mohajer. "The day is coming when voice, not touch, will be the primary means of human-machine interaction. People will increasingly speak to their cell phones, computers and cars. We're going to be part of that revolution, and this first version of Hound is our starting point. Once a person hounds for music, they will never go back to typing for it."
