NeoSpeech Boosts Phonetic Language Support for English, Chinese, and Japanese

NeoSpeech has improved its phonetic languages support, allowing developers to use several phonetic symbols and languages via the NeoSpeech text-to-speech engine and its VoiceText Markup Language (VTML).

Currently NeoSpeech text-to-speech VTML supports English, Japanese, and Chinese languages. For English, developers may convert any phonetic symbol written in IPA (Internal Phonetic Alphabet), WorldBet (ASCII encoding of IPA), SAMPA (Speech Assessment Methods Phonetic Alphabet), SAPI Phoneme, and the CMU (Carnegie Mellon University) Pronouncing Dictionary into voice by using VTML.

For Japanese, VTML supports phonetic representation written in Katakana and stress symbols. For Chinese, Pinyin can be presented phonetically by using VTML x-PINYIN tags. NeoSpeech text-to-speech also supports TeleAtlas SAMPA and Navteq SAMPA by providing a custom-made SDK based on customer needs.
