NAVIGON Launches Its Own Consumer Brand Navigation Products
CHICAGO - NAVIGON launched its first NAVIGON brand consumer devices. NAVIGON unveiled the 5100 and 7100 models at CeBIT. The models will hit store shelves in April in Europe. A North American launch will follow mid-summer.
The NAVIGON 7100 product features a 4.3" full-color display and a 16:9 widescreen format. This device offers:
- Subscription-Free Traffic - NAVIGON delivers subscription-free traffic for the life of the product. The system advises drivers on traffic incidents and flow and provides alternate routes. Traffic data is provided by Clear Channel.
- Turn-by-turn Directions - The system provides turn-by-turn directions and articulates road names via text-to-speech technology; Bluetooth technology enables hands-free mobile phone integration.
- Lane Assistance and Reality View - Lane Assistance recommends the optimal lane the driver should be in ahead of encountering a highway interchange. Reality View provides a virtual reality of an intersection -- with road geometry, actual road sign text, and 3D images.
- Zagat Survey Content - Complementing points of interest, the device also includes Zagat ratings and reviews on restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, attractions, and golf courses.
With a 3.5" display, the NAVIGON 5100 is more compact. It can be viewed in portrait or landscape modes. It offers the same NAVIGON software under its hood -- including Lane Assistance, Reality View, subscription-free traffic, and Zagat Survey reviews and ratings. NAVIGON will release MSRP just prior to the summer launch of the systems.
