Magellan Releases CrossoverGPS Outdoor Upgrade for RoadMate 2200T
LAS VEGAS - Magellan, creators of the Hertz NeverLost and a global provider of outdoor and vehicle navigation solutions, released a multi-application upgrade that enables a vehicle navigation device to deliver outdoor navigation capabilities. The new CrossoverGPS upgrade option for the IPX-4 waterproof Magellan RoadMate 2200T portable vehicle navigation system adds topographic maps and GPS guidance tools to extend the customer's flexibility of using the GPS for hiking, off-road excursions, boating and more.
The CrossoverGPS upgrade creates an outdoor navigation mode in the Magellan RoadMate 2200T to help users find their way through land areas without streets by using the latitude and longitude for geographical locations. The upgrade equips the Magellan RoadMate with topographic contour maps and functions including the ability to create and go to waypoints and routes or backtrack. The upgrade also provides a compass screen and the ability to save a base camp location. The integrated battery lasts up to eight hours for extended cord-free operation during outdoor activities.
The CrossoverGPS upgrade also allows users to load additional mapping software for boating and land activities to the Magellan RoadMate 2200T through optional memory cards.
The color, touch-screen Magellan RoadMate 2200T ships standard with advanced, voice- and visual-prompted, turn-by-turn vehicle navigation capabilities plus the option to add traffic services through the Magellan TrafficKit. The device contains full map coverage for the 50 United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, plus a searchable directory of almost two million points of interest to find local restaurants, lodging, and more. Advanced features include Smart Detour for avoiding traffic jams, SayWhere text-to-speech directions with audible street names for extra driving confidence, and multidestination routing. Users can also enjoy the built-in MP3 player and photo viewer in or away from the car with its battery life of up to eight hours. The system can also be outfitted with an optional rubberized, impact- and water-resistant Sports Guard jacket for added durability.
