MCI to Deploy Brooktrout's SnowShore IP Media Server for Its Next Generation Multimedia Services

CHICAGO - MCI, Inc. has selected Brooktrout Technology, Inc.'s SnowShore IP Media Server™ to support the delivery of IP communications solutions across its global network.

Brooktrout's software-based media servers will serve as an element of MCI's application delivery architecture to enhance the carrier's suite of existing and next-generation services.

"Today, many of our customers are migrating their communications to IP, helping to lower their cost of doing business while building a foundation for new capabilities in the future," said Steven Smiley, director of IT Call Processing Infrastructure at MCI. "As MCI continues to deploy its SIP-based services, we are utilizing Brooktrout's standards-based media server platform which will further enable the creation of next-generation IP solutions."

The SnowShore IP Media Server is an IP media server that delivers media processing for communications applications, from basic messaging and prepaid services to conferencing and video mail.

With networking and programming interfaces such as SIP and VoiceXML, the server provides interoperability with a range of third-party Application Servers in next-generation wireline, wireless and broadband networks.
