LG Electronics Chooses smARTspeak XGT from ART for LX5550 Voice-Controlled Phone

ATLANTA, GA - LG Electronics has selected Advanced Recognition Technologies' (ART) smARTspeak(R) XGT embedded speech interface for its latest voice-controlled CDMA phone, the compact LX5550 clamshell.

The Korean electronics and communications company is the world's largest producer of CDMA phones.

The new smARTspeak XGT features name-dialing technology for wireless phones and mobile devices and is the latest version of the company's smARTspeak line. The smARTspeak XGT is fully speaker independent, meaning it can be operated by any user "right out of the box" - with no voice training of the device. It also adds a new voice feedback capability that gives users audio confirmation of spoken names, numbers, and other commands. This is done by "reading" from the phone's 499-name contact list using ART's text-to-speech technology.

"LG phones incorporate the best available technology," said Mr. Jae-Gyung Ham, vice president of CDMA Marketing at LG. "For the LX5550 phone, the smARTspeak XGT is absolutely the best speaker-independent voice technology on the market. We are especially impressed by its phoneme-based speech recognition and text-to-speech verbal confirmation. Thanks to smARTspeak XGT, the new LX5550 is a proud addition to the LG line of voice-control phones."
