InfoTalk Signs On as Contributing Member of SALT Forum

HONG KONG - InfoTalk Corporation, a provider of multi-lingual conversational speech understanding technology, announced that the company has joined the Speech Application Language Tags (SALT) Forum as a contributing member. The SALT Forum was formed in October 2001 to create an open, royalty-free, platform-independent standard that extends existing Web markup languages to foster development and use of speech technologies in multimodal and telephony systems. InfoTalk joins a group of over fifty companies in the SALT Forum that are involved in speech technology development and deployment, including speech technology providers, platform vendors, service providers, device manufacturers, tool vendors and Web server vendors. "InfoTalk is dedicated to enabling any time, anywhere access to Web-based information and services," said Mr. William Wang, Vice President of System Development of InfoTalk. "The goals and activities of the SALT Forum are perfectly aligned with our mission. Open standards, such as SALT, are vital to the proliferation of speech technology and implementation of speech-enabled services." "InfoTalk brings to the SALT Forum critical insight into the development of speech technology, especially in the Asia Pacific region," said SALT Forum representative Piyush Dogra. "It is essential to have companies with international expertise and local experience actively involved to ensure that the Forum's activities meet the needs of our global customers."
