Fonix DECtalk Adds New Platforms and Languages
SALT LAKE CITY - Fonix Speech released version 4.6.3 of its Fonix DECtalk text-to-speech (TTS) technology. This new version re-releases the "classic" DECtalk TTS voices, offers a number of new features and supports additional operating systems.
Fonix DECtalk 4.6.3 supports an array of hardware platforms and operating systems and offers nine voices and seven languages.
Fonix DECtalk currently supports the following OSs:
- Windows 98/NT/2000/ME/XP
- Windows CE 3.0/4.x/.NET/Windows Mobile 2003
- Linux Kernels 2.2/2.4
- ARM 7/9, Intel XScale, TI OMAP, MIPS, Renesas SH3/4
Version 4.6.3 adds the following OS compatibility to the already supported OSs:
- Mac OS 10 or higher
- Symbian platforms 1 and 2 (Nokia Series 60)
- Symbian UIQ 2.0 and 2.1
- Linux V2.65 kernel
- Palm OS V5
- QNX version 6.1 (or higher)
Fonix DECtalk 4.6.3 adds Italian to the list of available languages (U.S. and U.K. English, Castilian and Latin American Spanish, French and German) and also improves the naturalness and intelligibility of German and Spanish. DECtalk 4.6.3 offers nine TTS voices as well as the nine classic voices for each language (18 total voices for each language).
