Comverse Unveils Its Developer Program And Online Developer Zone
ORLANDO, FL -- Comverse, a unit of Comverse Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: CMVT), and a supplier of software and systems enabling network-based multimedia enhanced communications services, unveiled the Comverse Developer Program at CTIA Wireless 2002 in Orlando. The goals of the Comverse Developer Program are:
- To enable developers to build, test and certify voice, data and multimodal applications, taking advantage of Comverse's open platform and Comverse's installed base of more than 390 network operators.
- To provide developers with marketing opportunities for the large telecom market, through the Comverse Spark AllianceSM Program.
- To provide operators with an expansive portfolio of exciting new applications, inspired, created and delivered by numerous developers.
"Comverse is well positioned to embrace the developer community," said Mark Winther, group vice president, Worldwide Telecommunications IDC. "With a customer base of over 390 wireless and wireline operators, Comverse can offer real-world opportunities and configurations to application developers.
Comverse's commitment to VoiceXML and The SALT (Speech Application Language Tags) Forum is proving to be a foundational catalyst in developing embedded speech enhancements in Web pages using coding languages and technologies familiar to developers. Comverse has adopted a cooperative IP open-standards approach that I see as encouraging to the developer community with regard to the interoperability of service applications. This type of program will give Comverse customers another tool to mine and search for the next killer application that will drive the adoption of 2.5G and 3G services." A key component of the Developer Program is the Developer Zone, an online resource designed to provide applications developers with the means to develop applications that operate on Comverse's IP-based, open architecture. The Comverse Developer Zone includes downloadable software developer kits (SDKs), online application testing tools, developer guides, and Web-based help and support. The Developer Program also offers interoperability testing with Comverse systems, application testing, and certification through the Comverse Certification Lab. Comverse's certification process applies criteria that meet the standards required by carrier-grade network providers. The process is designed to ensure certified VoiceXML and Open.SMS applications are top-quality and scalable.
