Aculab Enhances Prosody X

Aculab, a provider of enabling technology for the global communications market, enhanced Prosody X, its IP media processing platform, with new functionality. This includes improvements to media processing, signaling, call control, and security algorithms - which are interoperable with all existing versions of the hardware, including PCI, CompactPCI, and PCI Express form factors.

Added media processing functionality includes: support for additional voice codecs utilized in VoIP and mobile network environments (iLBC, G.723.1A, G.726, G.728, G.729AB, GSM-FR, GSM-EFR, MS-GSM, AMR-NB, EVRC, SMV); transcoding from any codec to any codec; RTP for VoIP communications; and enhanced conferencing and echo cancellation algorithms. In addition, Aculab has released a new Group 3 fax library supporting: B4 page sizes; algorithms to achieve a higher T.30 fax channel count per card; V.34 modem for fax interactions; T.38 fax over IP relay and termination; and T.30 to T.38 gateway.

Signaling and call control enhancements to Prosody X include: SIP support (SIPS); RTP and STUN, required for firewall and NAT device traversal by SIP messages; SIP session timers; and subscribe/specific event notifications. Aculab's SIP stack has been upgraded to include redundancy and failover mechanisms. The SS7 stack signaling capabilities now include SS7 monitoring, used for the creation of solutions compliant with the lawful intercept (LI/CALEA) regulations.

Additionally, a support for digium|Asterisk open source software is now available for the Prosody X product line and a certification process for the Asterisk Business Edition product has been completed.

The new functionality is now a part of the Prosody X software package.
