Aculab Adds Third Party Call Control for Prosody X
MILTON KEYES, U.K. - Aculab released the Aculab SIP Bridge, for third party call control, with its next generation media processing resources platform - Prosody X.
Prosody X is a card designed for media processing in IP-based networks with TDM connectivity as an option. Designed around an IP core, its architecture makes the product distributable amongst different chassis platforms.
Third party call control refers to the ability for an entity, such as an IP PBX, to create and manage a call in which the media actually flows between other entities. SIP facilitates this through its separation of signaling and media; the signaling can be managed by one device while the media is handled by another device.
For use with Prosody X, the Aculab SIP Bridge allows developers to build back-to-back user agents (B2BUA) and third party call control products.
Preliminary channel counts for configured cards with speech processing are running at 600 for the PCI product variant. With the Aculab SIP Bridge the number of signaling channels available is unrestricted.
