2014 Speech Industry Awards
Whether they improve user experiences, company performance, or both, many of the speech technology industry's recent advances are due to the tireless efforts of a handful of people and companies. Their achievements shouldn't go unnoticed, which is why we honor them here.
Our eighth annual Speech Industry Awards recognize key influencers (Luminaries), the biggest speech technology innovators (Star Performers), and impressive client-side deployments (Implementation Awards).
By recognizing the industry's movers and shakers over the past year, our Speech Industry Awards also reveal some of the hottest industry developments. The most notable advancements are in various speech-enabled mobile applications (such as voice biometrics, visual IVR, wearables, and mobile voice search), as well as natural language and analytics technologies.
These technologies will undoubtedly help shape the future of the speech technology industry. Congratulations to the people and companies that have contributed to these advancements. They have earned their rightful place in this year’s Speech Industry Awards.
SPEECH LUMINARIES
Increasingly, speech technology is working in areas outside of voice-only applications to enhance their value. Our four 2014 Speech Luminaries have furthered this effort with notable contributions in multimodal control language, wearable computing, emotion detection, and mobile user authentication.
STAR PERFORMERS
We've made a pretty significant change to our 8th annual Speech Industry Awards. To better cover the full range of market developments, we replaced our Market Leader awards with our newly expanded Star Performer awards. This enables us to more deeply examine the industry's biggest trends, while also letting us recognize important accomplishments from smaller, niche companies.
This year, there were notable advancements in mobile authentication, intelligent assistants, visual IVR, wearable devices, natural language, analytics, and mobile voice search. Thanks to our 15 Star Performers, all of these efforts were propelled to new heights.
IMPLEMENTATION AWARDS
What do a global financial services firm, a medical collection company, and a pioneering home fitness brand have in common? All three have recently discovered the impact speech analytics products can have on agent productivity, customer service, and, as a result of both, their bottom line. The impressive results achieved by these companies are the reason our editors chose to honor them with our 2014 Implementation Awards.
Though every company must find a solution that works for its own needs, our winners have proven that making a smart investment in speech technology can come with a significant payoff.
