LinguaSys Launches Natural Language User Interface Server
LinguaSys, a provider of natural language processing software, has launched its Natural Language User Interface Server, allowing millions of developers to create their own artificial intelligence natural language understanding interfaces for virtual assistants and related technologies. The new multitenant NLUI Server runs on Microsoft Azure's open cloud platform so users can build, deploy, and manage applications across a global network.
Anyone who can write XML scripts can create natural language interfaces by leveraging LinguaSys' extensive semantic network of more than 20 languages, and the NLU engine, which shifts most of the artificial intelligence requirements from the developer to the engine itself.
The actual platform is text-based, but Brian Garr, CEO of LinguaSys, says it supports speech as well. "Clients can put speech in front of it," he says. "They just need to run the speech recognition on the front end."
The platform is ideal for virtual assistants, according to Garr. "You can do everything that Siri does, but do it in 21 languages," he says. "I don't know of anyone else in the industry who offers the ability to communicate in 21 languages."
Garr says LinguaSys is commoditizing the ability to create AI interfaces in hours or days instead of months. With NLUI Server, developers can write an AI interface once and have it accept input in all 21 languages currently supported by LinguaSys .
LinguaSys' NLUI Server is the latest addition to its suite of multilingual software offerings included in GlobalNLP, a cloud-based API publishing platform for developers, announced October 21. GlobalNLP enables the global software developer population to build Natural Language Processing applications with their own business logic and extract meaning from unstructured or conversational text across languages.
GlobalNLP is also available on the Oracle Cloud Marketplace, the IBM Cloud Marketplace, and soon at the Microsoft Cloud Marketplace.
LinguaSys' solutions are powered by the LinguaSys Carabao Linguistic Virtual Machine, a proprietary interlingual technology, to deliver faster and more accurate results. Designed to be customized by clients, the solutions can be used via the subscription-as-a-service (SaaS) model or behind the firewall.
"It's available in the SaaS model so any developer can start writing to it very quickly," Garr explains.
This new NLU capability is available on the LinguaSys GlobalNLP portal. Trial subscriptions are free, and it comes with an editor, validator, and run time.
"The development and testing is free," Garr says. "Then when you're ready to deploy, we charge a fee for licensing it."
