CSR Adds Rubidium’s Talking Caller ID to BlueCore5 Platform

CSR recently announced that its BlueCore5-Multimedia Bluetooth platform is now available with Rubidium's Talking Caller ID text-to-speech (TTS) application.

Using Rubidium's embedded TTS technology, Bluetooth headsets and hands-free car kits based on CSR's BlueCore5-Multimedia silicon can now announce the caller's name and number. Users of products enabled with this function will now find it easier and safer to decide whether or not to take a call.

The latest addition to CSR's eXtension Partner Program, Rubidium's Talking Caller ID TTS uses phonetic technology designed to convert the textual information displayed on a mobile handset into a natural-sounding speech announcement. Designed to enable correct pronunciation of virtually any name, it includes a linguistic analyser and an internal dictionary of thousands of native and foreign names.
Later in the year, Rubidium's speaker independent speech recognition engine will also be implemented into the BlueCore-Multimedia platform.

"Consumers are demanding more of their wireless devices, seeking superior quality, user comfort and ease of use," said Shlomo Peller, Rubidium's founder and CEO. "Our partnership with CSR allows us to enhance our product offering further, adding an unbeatable level of value to the automotive, handset, and headset industry. Rubidium's Talking Caller ID TTS is already a proven technology. Now combined with CSR's powerful DSP-based architecture, we can offer users an unprecedented level of quality and functionality in hands-free applications."
